Praxis-Teil IPAF-Schulung

Efficient operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) requires theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge about machines. Only competent and trained operators meet the requirements for a responsible and proper handling of different platform types. Get your "driver's license" for work platforms now.

IPAF Training – Is it necessary?

The operation of work platforms is subject to statutory regulations.

Staff is qualified to operate platforms if they:

  • Are trained and own a valid training certificate
  • Are instructed in using the type of mewp
  • Got written authorization from their employer
  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Are physically and mentally fit for the task

IPAF courses are certified by ISO 18878 (Mobile Elevating Work Platform Operator Training) and audited by TÜV. They comply with German DGUV regulation 308-008. An IPAF course covers both - international requirements for MEWP operation and the mandatory German training according to DGUV 308-008.

After successful completion, operators receive the IPAF PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) for international work. It is accepted in different countries all over the world as proof of qualification and is increasingly a prerequisite for global projects. Even on many German construction sites, clients specifically ask for this proof for operation of access technology.

Your Benefits:

  • Significant decrease of accidents
  • Minimization of liability risks for clients
  • Efficient and safe use of machines
  • International validity
  • Training in small groups
  • Germany-wide training in certified centres
  • Online verification tool for site managers and safety officers

The main causes of fatalities involving work platforms are falls, electrocution, entrapment, and overturning. These are situations that can be prevented by trained operators.

PAL Card | A "License" for Work Platforms

IPAF Pal-Card

A PAL Card is a Powered Access Licence for operating Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).

According to legal requirements, operators using MEWPs must be instructed and qualified. IPAF training is valid internationally and certified by ISO 18878. The PAL Card also fulfils German national safety regulations (DGUV 308/008).

More than 51 countries accept the PAL Card recognition of high-quality operator training.

All PAL Cards are issued digitally and accessed via ePAL, IPAF’s free mobile phone app. (Printed PAL Cards are available if required.)

About IPAF | International Powered Access Federation

The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) promotes and enables a safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide – through providing technical advice and information by influencing and interpreting legislation and standards; and via its safety initiatives and training programmes.

IPAF is a not-for-profit organisation owned by its members, which include manufacturers, rental companies, distributors, contractors and users of powered access. IPAF has members in more than 80 countries, who operate the majority of the MEWP rental fleet worldwide and manufacture about 85% of platforms on the market.

IPAF Training in English Language

For 4-8 persons we organize special training days in English language in one of our training centres.

It is also possible to absolve theory part in advance as an online training and then fix a date with us in one of our training centres in order to do the test in writing and practical exercises.

If you want to send less than 4 trainees or book training for one single person, we offer theory part of the course as an online training in English language. After passing this part, trainees can fix a date for theory test and practice part in our training centre.
